HGD Module : Kathleen's Daughter's Videos Now in our Blog!

Ladies,

Here's the moment we've been waiting for..

Presenting.. Kathleen's pride & joy, Marylene!

Based on Kathleen's inputs, here are the 5 video clips that we can begin to write our running records. Each has nice social & emotional angles we can work with. Allow me to allocate as follows:

1. George on Video#1

2. Irene on Video#2

3. Jennifer on Video#3

4. Kathleen on Video#4

5. Margaret on Video#5

Notice that I merely used the alphabetical order of our names. Since we are viewing 3-min videos (in theory), our running records should be 20secs each. That will give us 9 observations and interpretations for each video. And when combined, we will have 45 observations. That should be enough, I think. Please feel free to comment, change or suggest alternatives.

When we meet tomorrow, lets set up and agree on a timeline for completion. As you now know, our assignments are piling up with each module, so the faster we can wrap each project up, the fresher is the info taught to us, and we can begin to breathe easier.

Cya tomorrow.

Excellent info on Autism within the Singapore context that we can refer to. Here's the url on Myths v Facts on Autism:

Almost everything we want for Spore related info may be residing here in this excellent website, incl education at the Pathlight School.
The other resource I used was from Autism Society of America (ASA):

The Passing of a Great Teacher..

Hi,

You all would have recognised the cover of this book. The passing of Prof Randy Pausch, author of this "The Last Lecture" book, and our handing of this book as a token to lecturer Lee Lan was quite a coincidence.

If you feel like viewing his "Last Lecture" on YouTube, here it is:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=362421849901825950

There are precious gems and wisdom to share. And if you have a 'thing' for teaching, as we all have, this lecture is one that I would highly recommend. Some gems..

“…when you see yourself doing something badly and nobody’s bothering to tell you anymore, that’s a very bad place to be. Your critics are the ones telling you they still love you and care.”

“Experience is what you get when you didn’t get what you wanted.”

“It’s not about how to achieve your dreams, it’s all about leading your life. If you lead your life in a right way, karma will take care of itself. And dreams will come to you.”

[Quoting a CMU secretary]“This advice is good for the ladies: when it comes to men that are romantically interested in you, it’s really simple: just don’t listen to anything they have to say; pay attention to what they do.” (Cynthia’s note: good advice for men and women!)

“If I only had three words of advice, they would be, Tell the Truth. If got three more words, I’d add, all the time.”

HGD Module : Social Emotional Development Paper from NIEER

Ladies,
Found this paper on Children's Social Emotional Development Thro PreSchool from
NIEER. Looks very credible. We should be able to reference it, if we want to, for our group term paper on HGD.

"A Friend Like Henry"

Ladies,

I think you will find this Sunday Times UK article on "A Friend Like Henry" interesting. You will recall it was referred to by lecturer Garry yesterday.

"A friend for life"
Nuala Gardner was despairing about her autistic son, but the arrival of Henry the dog in their lives changed everything..

Blog Video example for term-paper

Ladies,

If you have got into our blog, here's what I mean about posting the videos on our blog for us to view, and therefore enhance our group-work (and maybe, our term paper and grading)..

So Kathleen, when you have your videos, please help us by uploading them into this Blog as a posting (or several postings, if each video upload takes a while) and we can begin to start getting our running records in place, and then start our term paper.
